Mehbooba Mufti expresses condolence on passing of Prof Abdul Wahid Qureshi

Srinagar, Nov 17: The Jammu and Kashmir People’s Democratic Party (PDP) Sunday expressed deep sorrow over the passing of Prof. Abdul Wahid Qureshi, former Vice Chancellor of Kashmir University.

The party president Mehbooba Mufti conveyed her heartfelt condolences to the bereaved family, friends, and academic community in this moment of profound loss.

Prof. Abdul Wahid Qureshi was a distinguished academician whose exemplary career in education made a significant impact on shaping the intellectual and professional lives of countless students. As the Vice Chancellor of Kashmir University, he worked tirelessly to enhance the university’s stature, promoting academic excellence and fostering an environment of knowledge and growth.

In her message, PDP president Mehbooba Mufti said, “Prof. Abdul Wahid Qureshi’s contribution to the academic landscape of Jammu and Kashmir will forever be cherished. He was a beacon of knowledge and a guiding force for generations of students and educators. His legacy of commitment to education and service to the community will continue to inspire”.

The party extended its support and prayers to the family and loved ones of Prof. Qureshi during this difficult time. “His loss is not only a personal tragedy for his family but also a collective loss for Jammu and Kashmir’s academic fraternity,” it said.
