Mehbooba blames Delhi for breaking People’s Democratic Party
Anantnag, Mar 21: People’s Democratic Party (PDP) president and former Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti on Thursday blamed New Delhi for attempting to dismantle the PDP to suppress the voice of her party.
“They made all attempts to fracture and dismantle the PDP by poaching their legislators and MPs from the party,” she told reports in Anantnag. Mehbooba said that these attempts were aimed at strengthening the BJP proxies.
“They are making efforts to prevent the real voices from reaching the parliament by supporting their B and C teams,” PDP President said. She blamed the BJP government for launching consistent assaults on the people of J&K. “It abolished our rights and disempowered us. They have turned Jammu and Kashmir into a jail. Thousands of youth are languishing in jails,” she said.
The former Chief Minister said that she and her mother were summoned by the ED and were driven out of her government accommodation during the harsh winter. Mehbooba said that if the youth protested against the recruitment frauds, they were sent to jails. She said that now the people were only left with the option of voting.
“…And now what can I say if New Delhi seeks to manipulate votes in favour of parties formed after 2019 to secure seats in parliament,” Mehbooba said. She said that the faith of people in the ballots was restored with much difficulty. “To restore this faith, the former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee had to announce from the Red Fort that the elections in J&K would be held in a free and fair manner”, she said.
