Kulgam, May 14: Former Chief Minister and PDP President Mehbooba Mufti today blamed the administration for impeding the voting process in the Srinagar Lok Sabha seat.

“Whereever they saw PDP voters are lining up to cast their votes, they slowed down the process,” she while addressing a public rally in south Kashmir’s Qazigund area. She warned that similar tactics can be employed during the polling in Anantnag- Rajouri seat.

Mehbooba said that the voters had still hopes with PDP as the National Conference members remained silent in the parliament. “For five years, the National Conference members remained in the parliament. Despite the presence of Farooq Abdullah, the most senior and tall leader, their impact remained negligible,” she said.

She said that now the party fielded the candidate of a particular community, believing that he would secure their votes. Mehbooba castigated the National Conference for breaking the People’s Alliance for Gupkar Declaration (PAGD). The PDP chief said that even the workers within the National Conference workers were opposed to the decision.

Further criticising the National Conference, Mehbooba said that the BJP government created a normalcy narrative and they (NC) went mute. “PDP was the sole party that not only in Kashmir but also outside the parliament said that they (BJP government) rain bulldozers over the properties of people,” she said. Mehbooba appealed to the people to vote for the PDP candidates.
