Medical graduates demand FMGE center in Kashmir

Srinagar, Jan 4: Medical graduates from Kashmir have sought a Foreign Medical Graduates Examination (FMGE) Center of National Medical Council (NMC) in Kashmir for their convenience. Students who have studied medicine in foreign medical colleges are required to pass the MC examination to practice in India and pursue higher studies.

Currently, Kashmiri students must travel to examination centres in Samba, Noida, or Amritsar, incurring significant expenses for airfare, hotel accommodation, and other costs. Parents and students alike are urging the authorities to establish a separate examination centre in Kashmir Valley to alleviate their financial burden. "If Samba can have a Center, why not Srinagar," an aspirant lamented.

This demand is particularly pressing given the current climate of joblessness, which has led to widespread cynicism among the youth. By providing a local examination centre, the authorities can help reduce the stress and financial hardship faced by these students and their families. “The establishment of a FMGE Centre in Srinagar would be a significant step towards supporting the educational and career aspirations of local students, " a delegation of Foreign Medical Graduates said.
