Measures reviewed for restoration of Gilsar, Khushalsar lakes

Srinagar, Sep 02: Authorities review the action plan for the restoration of Khushalsar and Gilsar lakes during a meeting with Chairman Nigeen Lake Conservation Organisation (NLCO) Manzoor Ahmad Wangnoo.

In a statement, Wangnoo said a crucial meeting was called by the Secretary Housing and Urban Development Department (HU&DD) in her office chambers.

The meeting focused on the restoration of Gilsar and Khushalsar, and was also attended by the Commissioner of Srinagar Municipal Corporation (SMC) and the Vice-Chancellor of the Lake Conservation & Management Authority (LC&MA). The meeting was presided over by Secretary HU&DD.

“During this meeting, both short-term and long-term resolutions were discussed and passed to ensure the rejuvenation of these twin urban lakes. NLCO presented a memorandum outlining the challenges faced by these lakes and offered suggestions for their immediate revival.” Wangnoo added.

Chairman NLCO extended gratitude Secretary of HU&DD for convening this vital meeting and for the administration’s keen interest in restoring the glory of these crucial waterbodies. He also expressed gratitude to the Commissioner  SMC and the VC LC&MA for their coordinated efforts and support in this important initiative. To mention NLCO under its flagship community-led initiative “Mission Ehsaas” is restoring the glory of twin urban lakes of Gilsar and Khushalsar.
