“The terrorists opened indiscriminate fire and escaped into the jungle after they were challenged by the Army soldiers,” the Srinagar-based Chinar corps shared on its X handle.

The Army said that the search operation was underway.

An official said that the search operation was extended to the adjacent areas while the vehicles were being frisked by the security forces.

A top official confirmed to Greater Kashmir that some rounds were fired late Friday evening.

“The firing incident took place at the Bilal Colony Army camp on Bandipora-Panar road,” the official said.

Besides Bandipora, a search operation was also launched by the security forces in the Mendhar area of Poonch district.

“The Cordon and Search Operation was launched by the security forces following some inputs about the terrorist movement in Bhati Dhar forests. The Army fired some speculative fires and the operation was closed later,” an official said.
