Massive search operations in Bandipora, Poonch
Srinagar, Nov 2: A massive search operation was launched in north Kashmir’s Bandipora by security following some suspicious movement of terrorists in the area.
The operation jointly launched by CRPF 3 Bn, SOG, 14 RR, and Assam Rifles has been underway since Saturday morning.
The operation was launched after some rounds of bullets were exchanged late Friday evening.
The Srinagar-based 15 Corps said that suspicious movement was spotted in the Panar area of Bandipora late Friday evening by the alert troops.
“The terrorists opened indiscriminate fire and escaped into the jungle after they were challenged by the Army soldiers,” the Srinagar-based Chinar corps shared on its X handle.
The Army said that the search operation was underway.
An official said that the search operation was extended to the adjacent areas while the vehicles were being frisked by the security forces.
A top official confirmed to Greater Kashmir that some rounds were fired late Friday evening.
“The firing incident took place at the Bilal Colony Army camp on Bandipora-Panar road,” the official said.
Besides Bandipora, a search operation was also launched by the security forces in the Mendhar area of Poonch district.
“The Cordon and Search Operation was launched by the security forces following some inputs about the terrorist movement in Bhati Dhar forests. The Army fired some speculative fires and the operation was closed later,” an official said.
