Manzoor Wangnoo to lead environmental wing of J&K Hoteliers Club

Srinagar, May 26: Jammu and Kashmir Hoteliers Club has appointed Manzoor Wangnoo as new head for its environmental wing. The announcement was made following a pivotal meeting of the club, where the decision to spearhead a pilot project for a small wastewater treatment facility was finalised.

This initiative is set to take place at one of the club member's hotels, inspired by the dedicated social activist, Dr. Raja Muzaffar Bhat.

Wangnoo the new head of the wing expressed his delight and commitment to the cause, emphasizing the project’s goal to transform the hotel into a demonstration centre for other hoteliers. The facility aims to showcase affordable and sustainable practices, serving as a model for the hospitality industry in the valley.

"The role entrusted to me strengthens my dedication to environmental protection," Wangnoo stated. "The meeting saw a strong encouragement for hoteliers to initiate similar projects and to plant trees on their premises," he added

Starting this November, the JK Hoteliers Club will embark on an ambitious mission to plant trees across their hotels, fostering a culture of sustainability and eco-tourism. The initiative has received strong support from prominent figures in the club, including  Chairman JKHC Mushtaq Chaya , Tariq Ghani Bedaba , Akib Chaya, and Riyaz Ahmad, who have all demonstrated their commitment to environmental conservation.

Representing the NTTA and the Nigeen Lake Conservation Organisation, Manzoor Wangnoo expressed optimism about the collaboration's potential to rejuvenate the region's natural resources.
