Man arrested along with psychotropic substance in north Kashmir's Kupwara
Kupwara, Oct 23: Police in north Kashmir's Kupwara Thursday said they apprehended a suspect in possession of narcotics at the checkpoint near the B.Ed College crossing at Drugmulla.
Police said they observed a "person behaving in a suspicious manner who attempted to flee from the spot." However, he was apprehended by the police team.
After questioning, the suspect disclosed his identity as Khursheed Ah Hajam, son of Ab Ahad, resident of Kupwara.
Police said they recovered "substantial amount of a charas like substance from the individual's possession." The contraband was seized on the spot, police said.
Following the recovery, a case has been registered under FIR No. 249/2024 under Sections 8/20 of the NDPS Act, and further investigation is underway to uncover more details, police said.
