Srinagar, Nov 1: The HDFC Master Par Golf Tournament witnessed a vibrant display of skill, sportsmanship, and camaraderie as 91 golfers teed off in the one-day event held at the Royal Spring Golf Course (RSGC) on Saturday.

The tournament brought together seasoned professionals and passionate amateurs alike.

Among the participants, A B Majeed Siraj, aged 95, stood out as the oldest player, earning admiration and applause from fellow golfers for his enthusiasm and dedication to the game.

On the leaderboard, Majid Khan emerged as the top performer with an outstanding score of -3, clinching the overall best score of the tournament.

Category-wise winners included Arsalan Rah, Ghalib Shaw, Fayaz Bhat, and M Y Khan, who impressed with their consistent play across challenging fairways. Majid Wafai also featured among the winners.

The event was graced and inaugurated by former J&K Chief Minister Dr Farooq Abdullah, who appreciated the players for promoting golf as a growing sport in the Valley.

Dr Abdullah was joined by CM’s advisor Nasir Aslam Wani and MLAs Tanveer Sadiq, Reyaz Bedar, and Farooq Ahmad Shah.

Addressing the golfers, Dr Abdullah urged them to “play honestly and in the true spirit of the game.”

The tournament concluded with a felicitation ceremony recognising the winners and senior participants, with organisers promising more such events to encourage sporting culture and tourism in Kashmir’s scenic golf destinations.

At the day-long event, HDFC Bank, represented by Arun Mendiratta, National Head, and Iftekar Ahmed, Cluster Head, announced that the Master Par Golf Tournament will now be an annual event, aiming to make it a flagship competition on Kashmir’s golfing calendar. The tournament was supported by sponsors Shapoorji Pallonji, Khyber Hotels, TCI, and Mahindra.
