New Delhi, Oct 24: Cochin Shipyard Limited (CSL) delivered ‘Mahe’, the first of eight Anti-Submarine Warfare Shallow Water Crafts (ASW-SWC), to the Indian Navy on October 23, 2025.

Named after the historic port town in the Union Territory of Puducherry, Mahe embodies India’s rich maritime heritage and growing self-reliance in naval shipbuilding.

Indigenously designed and constructed by CSL, the 78-metre vessel is equipped for anti-submarine warfare, underwater surveillance, and low-intensity maritime operations, with advanced sonar, radars, torpedoes, and rocket systems. With over 80% indigenous content, the ship’s induction marks a major milestone under the government’s Aatmanirbhar Bharat vision and will significantly boost the Navy’s coastal defence and underwater warfare capabilities.
