Maha Shivratri celebrations held in Chenab Valley

Ramban, Mar 8: Maha Shivratri the auspicious festival was celebrated with devotion and religious fervour across the three districts Doda, Kishtwar and Ramban of the Chenab region of Jammu province on Friday

A huge rush of devotees was witnessed at the ancient Shiv cave on the banks of river Chenab at Chanderkote.

The majority of the devotees celebrated the festival by keeping fast on this day and worship Lord Shiva with a ritual bath of Shivlings in temples.

Temples in various towns and surrounding areas received hundreds of devotees on Shivratri across the district. Temples were decorated and made ready with zeal and zest to celebrate the festival in various towns in diverse factions across the district.

On the eve an impressive Shoba Yatra was taken out from Shiv temple Maitra with active cooperation of Raghunath temple Ramban in the town.

The Shobha yatra passed through areas including Govind Pura Maitra, Boli Bazaar, and Main Bazaar Ramban, and finally culminated at Raghunath Mandir Ramban.

A large number of devotees including men, women, and children standing alongside routes welcomed the Shobha yatra.

Trade organisations of Ramban town had decorated markets with gates and buntings at some places to well come to the Yatra.

A langer was also organised by the Sanatan Dharm Sabha at Maitra and by the locals at Ramban.

The police administration has made elaborate security arrangements across the district. A huge rush of devotees was witnessed at the ancient Shiv cave on the banks of river Chenab at Chanderkote.

Similar reports of celebrations of Shivratri were received from Bhadrawah, Prem Nagar Doda, Thatri, Kishtwar, and Paddar.

Meanwhile, the district administration has made elaborate security arrangements across the Ramban district.
