Macadamisation of vital Surankote to Bufliyaz road taken up
Rajouri, July 15: After a long wait, the macadamisation work on vital road stretch from Surankote to Bufliyaz has been taken up by the concerned department.
The stretch is a part of road from Rajouri to Surankote that is referred to Rajouri - Thanamandi - Surankote road. It passes from Rajouri to Thanamandi and then moves from famous forest tourism circuit Dehra Ki Gali (DKG) and touches Mughal Road at Bufliyaz before ending at Surankote sub division headquarter of Poonch district.
The road is considered vital as it is connecting road link for Mughal Road and also acts as alternate road between Rajouri and Poonch districts except Jammu- Rajouri - Poonch national highway.
The road is presently under upgradition in a project referred to as two lane based upgradition of Rajouri - Thanamandi - Surankote road being executed under Border Roads Organisation (BRO).
Most of the stretch of road from Rajouri to Thanamandi has been macdamaised earlier but some stretch is still pending while stretch from Thanamandi to Surankote is pending for completion with people are in anger for delay in completion of road project.
Meanwhile, district administration Poonch in an official statement has informed people that work for macadamization from Surankote to Bufliyaz has been taken up. “Roads are the arteries of development and work is in progress for macadamization on Surankote to Rajouri Road via Buffliaz (53 Kilometres),” the district administration said.
It informed that the road stretch is also a link connecting Jammu Poonch Highway with Historic Mughal road at Buffliaz.
Officials of Border Roads Organisation (BRO) said that work is going on and is expected to get completed by mid August.
They further said that the work of macadamization on stretch from Thanamandi to DKG and DKG to Bufliyaz, available land stretches can be black topped by October.
