Macadamisation begins on road surrounding Delina, Sangrama flyovers

Baramulla, Sep 11: The executing agency responsible for the construction of Delina and Sangrama flyovers has initiated macadamisation of the dilapidated road surrounding the two under-construction flyovers on the Srinagar-Baramulla highway. The work commenced on Tuesday night, bringing much-needed relief to the commuters and local residents.

This development follows a report published by Greater Kashmir 3 days ago, which highlighted the poor condition of the road, riddled with massive potholes. The road had been causing immense hardship for commuters and damage to vehicles. The under-construction flyovers, which are part of the four-lane Srinagar-Baramulla highway project, are of critical importance for improving connectivity in the region.

For weeks, commuters traveling on this stretch reaching key destinations such as Sopore, Kupwara, and Srinagar had voiced frustration over the neglect of the road by the executing agency. Local residents and vehicle owners criticised the agency for allowing the road to fall into such disrepair while the flyover construction continued.

However, with the macadamisation, the situation has significantly improved. Residents have expressed their relief and gratitude for the swift action taken by the authorities.

“We are thankful to the authorities for intervening immediately, thereby providing relief to the common people. The executive agency must ensure that, during the construction of both flyovers, commuters and nearby residents don’t face further hardships,” said Bashir Ahmad, a resident of Delina Baramulla.

The two flyovers, once completed, are expected to enhance traffic flow and reduce travel time along the Srinagar-Baramulla highway, a vital route for the region.
