Lt Governor reviews 12 MW solar power project at Phey
Leh, Oct 21: Lieutenant Governor of Ladakh, Kavinder Gupta, today conducted an on-site inspection of the 12 MW Solar Power Project at Phey, Leh, a milestone in the Union Territory’s push for renewable energy and sustainable development.
During the visit, Gupta reviewed the technical, operational, and logistical aspects of the solar plant. He was accompanied by Secretary PDD Rudra Goud PT, Chief Engineer PDD Tsewang Paljor, Superintending Engineer PDD, and senior officials from LPDD, SECI, and the EPC contractors.
The project is being executed under the guidance of the Solar Energy Corporation of India (SECI) as the Project Management Consultant, while Engineering, Procurement, and Construction (EPC) is jointly handled by Ecoteq Green Energies Foundation and Oneindig Technologies Limited.
The Lt Governor commended LPDD and its partners for advancing clean energy initiatives in Ladakh. He highlighted renewable energy’s role in ensuring long-term energy security, reducing dependence on conventional fuels, and protecting the fragile Himalayan ecosystem. “Harnessing solar power is not only a step toward environmental sustainability but also a crucial element in securing Ladakh’s energy future,” he said.
Gupta stressed maintaining the highest standards of safety, quality, and efficiency, urging all stakeholders to work collaboratively to ensure the project’s timely completion and optimal performance.
The 12 MW Solar Power Project at Phey aligns with the UT Administration’s vision of promoting green infrastructure, reducing carbon emissions, and creating a sustainable energy ecosystem, reflecting Ladakh’s commitment to innovative energy solutions that balance development with ecological responsibility.
