Lt Gen Upendra Dwivedi appointed as VCOAS

Jammu, Feb 5: Vice Chief of Army Staff (VCOAS) Lieutenant General M V Suchindra Kumar has been appointed as the new Northern Army Commander.

He is succeeding Lieutenant General Upendra Dwivedi, who is moving to Army Headquarters as VCOAS.

The Army stated that the two officers would take over their assignments on February 15.

GOC-in-C Northern Command Lt Gen Dwivedi has earlier been in the Army Headquarter as the Deputy Chief and Director General of Infantry.

Lt Gen Kumar has been the Vice Chief for around a year following his promotion as Army Commander. He also served as GOC White Knight (16) Corps at Nagrota.
