Srinagar, Sep 1: Army Commander Northern Command, Lieutenant General Pratik Sharma, conducted a high-level visit to the Counter Insurgency Force (CIF) deployed in south Kashmir to assess the prevailing security situation and boost the morale of the troops operating in these areas.

The visit comes in the wake of the recently concluded Operation GUDDAR, which led to the killing of two terrorists.

During the visit, Lt Gen Sharma held detailed briefings with senior officers of the Rashtriya Rifles (RR) and the Jammu and Kashmir Police, reviewing current operational strategies, intelligence coordination, and future preparedness.

He expressed satisfaction over the synergy between various security agencies and appreciated their commitment to maintaining peace and stability in the area.

One of the highlights of the visit was the special felicitation ceremony organised to honour the  personnel who participated in Operation GUDDAR.

The operation, described as a meticulously planned and swiftly executed counter-terror mission, was conducted in a high-threat area and resulted in the killing of two terrorists.

Police said that these terrorists were believed to be involved in multiple attacks on security forces and civilians in the past.

He felicitated RR and JKP personnel for their contribution in the recently concluded OP GUDDAR, in which two hardcore terrorists were neutralised. During the visit, he also witnessed an impressive innovation display showcasing the creativity of the troops. Lt Gen Sharma lauded their efforts, saying, “Innovation at the grassroots level is vital to staying ahead of adversaries in modern warfare. These initiatives not only improve our operational capabilities but also highlight the resourcefulness of our young leaders.”
