Jammu, Mar 8: The J&K Home Department Friday deputed three senior Indian Police Service (IPS) officers to attend the briefing meeting of Central Observers at Vigyan Bhawan, New Delhi, on March 11, in connection with the forthcoming General Election-2024.

However, DIG Home Guards, Jammu, would attend the meeting from the office of the J&K Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) virtually.

As per an order issued by Principal Secretary J&K Home Department, Chandraker Bharti, DIG Railways, J&K, Haseeb-ur-Rehman; Commandant IR-15th Bn, Sargun and Division Commandant Home Guards, Jammu, Sanjeev Kumar Yadav would attend the meeting at New Delhi.

“DIG Home-Guards, Jammu, Umesh Kumar has also been deputed to attend the briefing of the Central Observers from the office of Chief Electoral Officer, J&K, through virtual mode on March 11, 2024,” Bharti ordered.

As per the officials, a briefing of Central Observers is convened a few days before the announcement of the General Elections.

Police and Counting Observers are called for the observers’ meeting before they proceed to their assigned observer duty.

Central Observers belong to various services including IAS, IPS, SCS, Indian Forest Service and gazetted officers of the secretariat of the Election Commission of India.
