Low-intensity blast in Bengaluru leaves 9 persons injured
New Delhi, Mar 1: A blast at the renowned Rameshwaram cafe in Bengaluru's Whitefield area has left several individuals injured, confirmed Karnataka Home Minister Dr. G Parameshwara today.
According to reports quoting Chief Minister Siddaramaiah, CCTV footage indicates that a person was observed placing a bag within the premises of the cafe. "It is not a high-intensity blast but an improvised one," he told reporters at the scene. The injured, including cafe staff, have been promptly taken to a nearby hospital for medical attention. The explosion, which occurred around 1:30 PM during the busy lunch hour, shook the bustling cafe, located in east Bengaluru, where crowds from neighbouring offices typically gather.
Initial assessments suggested the possibility of a gas cylinder blast, but authorities are investigating all possible angles. "Initial suspicions are that it is a cylinder blast. However, it is being ascertained. It is a minor blast and we have shifted those injured to the hospital. The incident occurred between 1:30 and 2 PM. We are probing it from all angles," stated the police.
