Rajouri, Dec 7: Member Parliament from Anantnag Rajouri Lok Sabha constituency, Mian Altaf Ahmed on Sunday said that work on the Mughal Road tunnel was on the right track.

He said that the tenders were likely to be floated in upcoming months and he was personally following the project developments.

The MP further said that work on the project of construction of road between Loran-Poonch and Tangmarg would be resumed and he was also following this vital project.

Interacting with media persons on the sidelines of his visit in Rajouri, MP Mian Altaf Ahmed said that Mughal Road tunnel project was indeed a vital project.

“I am personally following this project regularly and I want to inform everyone that the tunnel would be constructed by the Kashmir unit of the Border Roads Organization,” he said.

“I would also like to inform everyone that this project is on the right track and I am expecting tenders to be floated soon in the upcoming couple of months,” he said.

“I would also like to share some good news with people that work on another vital project, the road from Loran to Tangmarg, will resume over a period of time,” he further said.

The MP said, “I followed this project in all the concerned quarters and have finally succeeded in getting it through.”

He stated that the work on Loran to Tangmarg road was taken up long back when he himself was Forest Minister in the J&K government but the work could not be completed for some reasons.

When asked about the working of the Jammu and Kashmir Government in the first year out of five, he said that the government was working to address the issue and work was being done.

“Government is working and addressing the issues of people but it is also true that issues of people are quite big and a lot of work needs to be done in the next few years,” he stated.
