LoP writes to speaker, seeks expunging of remarks referencing Pakistan
Jammu, Mar 07: Leader of Opposition in the J&K Legislative Assembly Sunil Sharma has written a letter to the Speaker Abdul Rahim Rather requesting him to immediately expunge "any remarks or discussions that reference Pakistan in a manner compromising national interests from the official records of the assembly proceedings."
Sharma alleged that a selective approach was being resorted to, during proceedings as patriotic statements, made in the interest of the nation, were being expunged from the records.
He said that discussions in the assembly were veering towards subjects engaging in talks with Pakistan, comparing PoJK areas with that of our UT and even glorifying Pakistan.
Sharma’s remarks describing the martyrs of July 13, 1931 as traitors had caused huge uproar in the assembly following which the speaker expunged the remarks.
