LoP thanks CM for scuttling land bill

Srinagar, Oct 28: Thanking Chief Minister Omar Abdullah for rejecting the Bill brought by MLA Waheed-ur-Rehman Para, Leader of Opposition (LOP) in the J&K Legislative Assembly and senior Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader, Sunil Sharma launched a broadside at both the regional party People’s Democratic Party (PDP) and the National Conference (NC), alleging that the PDP’s “agenda has been rehabilitation of illegal encroachers”, and accusing the NC of deep-regional and religious bias in transfers and promotions.

He expressed “thanks to CM Omar Abdullah for foiling PDP nefarious designs”, saying that the PDP has always pursued the twin objectives of “land war and rehabilitation of illegal encroachers”.

Sharma said that “during the LG’s tenure, there had been a lot of recruitment and it was supported by the official data” and therefore the NC’s allegations were “baseless”.

Launching an attack on the NC, Sharma said that it was “dividing people on the basis of region and religion”.

He said, “There were no transfers and promotions for teachers and other employees of the Jammu division. On the other hand, promotions of teachers and other employees of Kashmir were done smoothly this year.”

The LOP asked: “How can NC tell us that BJP is indulging in vote chori? They did chori for the last more than three decades, including the election of 1987.”

He urged the people of J&K to “see through the propaganda” of old political elites, saying that the BJP was delivering governance while the NC and PDP were stuck in “divisive politics”.
