Srinagar, Mar 24: The Kashmir Zone Police has implemented measures to safeguard the electoral integrity in Kashmir, particularly focusing on combating the dissemination of objectionable messages through various social media platforms.

At the Police Control Room Kashmir the establishment of an Election Helpline Number "8899868589" will primarily function to mitigate the potential threat posed by objectionable messages circulated during the election period.

The Election Commission has issued directives to combat the dissemination of objectionable messages that violate election laws and the model code of conduct.

Recipients of such objectionable messages are encouraged to forward the content along with the sender's details to the Election Helpline Number "8899868589." Upon receiving forwarded messages, the Jammu and Kashmir Police Kashmir Zone will promptly initiate inquiries to trace the original senders.

Legal action will be taken under the relevant provisions of the Indian Penal Code, Representation of the People Act, 1951, Conduct of Election Rules, 1961, and any other applicable laws, in accordance with instructions and directions issued by the Election Commission.
