Lohri celebrated with traditional zeal across Rajouri, Poonch
Rajouri, Jan 13: The festival of Lohri was celebrated with traditional zeal across Rajouri and Poonch districts on Saturday evening.
Lohri, celebrated every year on January 13, is considered as a festival when winter season starts receding while it also has importance for farmers who believe that greenery increases from the time after Lohri boosting crop production.
On Saturday, the festival was celebrated with zeal and people set bonfire to offer prayers wherein sweets and nuts are offered in fire as a mark of traditional praying practice.
Besides celebration at household levels, community level celebrations were also held in which hundreds of people assembled and took part in the celebrations.
At town hall in Rajouri, civil society members celebrated the festival Lohri with people from all walks of life joined in alongwith officers of civil administration and police including Deputy Commissioner Rajouri.
