Locals in Kupwara’s Pushwari demand immediate snow clearance

Kupwara, Jan 29: The residents of Pushwari in Machil sector of north Kashmir’s Kupwara district have expressed resentment against the authorities for failing to clear their road, causing immense hardships for the local population.

The residents said that the road has remained blocked due to heavy snowfall, leaving residents isolated to their village. "Due to blockade of the road, we are hardly able to move out of our houses and most importantly children of our locality are unable to study who have been taking classes at a private coaching centre two kilometres away from our village," Shabir Ahmad, a local told Greater Kashmir.

"We are facing serious problems in accessing healthcare and essential supplies but authorities seem to have forgotten us even after approaching them several times," he added.

The residents have urged MLA Lolab, the District Administration Kupwara, and the PMGSY department to intervene immediately and deploy men and machinery to clear the road and restore connectivity at the earliest. Responding to the concerns, MLA Lolab Qaiser Jamsheed Lone told Greater Kashmir that he has taken up the issue with the concerned authorities and hopefully the road will be cleared soon.
