Locals demand separate education zone for Qaziabad
Kupwara, Nov 9: The residents of Qaziabad in north Kashmir's Kupwara district have demanded a separate education zone for the area so that the hardships being faced by teachers, students and common people may end.
Locals said that the villages in Lower Qaziabad have been kept with Langate Education Zone while dozens of villages of Upper Qaziabad are associated with the Qalamabad Zone which, according to the people ,was injustice to them.
Residents said that Qaziabad being a large area has not been given a separate Education Zone much to the disappointment of people who have to travel a long distance to reach Langate Zonal Education Office and those who pertain to Qalamabad Zone have to travel thirty kilometers to get their voice heard.
"Almost one hundred and fourty government and private schools are running in Qaziabad with more than four hundred teachers on job. I am unable to figure out why we are being discriminated against and deprived of a separate education zone when our area does meet the required criteria for a separate education zone," a local told Greater Kashmir.
The residents said that they have brought this issue into the notice of concerned officials numerous times but after the passage of several years nothing concrete has been done in this regard.
The locals have sought the intervention of Lieutenant Governor in this regard and urged the higher authorities of the education department to establish a separate education zone at Qaziabad.
