Locals call for safety audit of Rajouri-Budhal road
Rajouri, Nov 6: After Monday's accident of a passenger vehicle at Rehan that resulted in the death of three passengers and injuries to 17 others, locals have called for a safety audit of the vital Rajouri-Kotranka-Budhal road and asked for adequate steps to prevent accidents.
The accident has sparked a wave of concern among the local population who called for a safety audit of the road.
“Rajouri-Kotranka-Budhal road is one of the busiest in the district as it connects the entire sub-division of Kotranka with Rajouri district headquarters and witnesses the heavy flow of traffic,” locals said. They said that this road lacks proper preventive measures for road accidents and frequent accidents on the road remain a cause of concern.
“There are inadequate protection measures for accidents on this vital road and most of the sharp turns have no protection bands,” locals said.
“There is a need to take large-scale steps to make this road secure.”
They said that the Rajouri-Kotranka-Budhal road falls under the Border Roads Organisation (BRO) and passes through a tough mountainous region, making it a more risk-prone road.
