Lieutenant General N S Raja appointed Vice Chief of Army Staff
New Delhi, July 1: Lieutenant General NS Raja Subramani has officially taken on the Vice Chief of Army Staff role today. Before this appointment, he served as the General Officer Commanding-in-Chief of the Central Command in Lucknow.
Commissioned into The Garhwal Rifles in December 1985, Lieutenant General Subramani is a graduate of the National Defence Academy and the Indian Military Academy. He further honed his military expertise at the Joint Services Command Staff College in Bracknell, UK, and the National Defence College in New Delhi. He holds a Master of Arts degree from King’s College London and an MPhil in Defence Studies from Madras University.
Throughout his distinguished 37-year career, Lieutenant General Subramani has served in a variety of command, staff, and instructional roles, gaining extensive experience across diverse conflict and terrain profiles. He possesses a profound understanding of the operational dynamics along both the Western and Northern Borders.
In recognition of his exemplary service to the nation, Lieutenant General Subramani has been awarded several prestigious honors, including the Param Vishisht Seva Medal, Ati Vishisht Seva Medal, Sena Medal, and Vishisht Seva Medal.
