LG to preside over main Republic Day function in Jammu

Jammu, Jan 16: Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha will preside over and take salute at the main function of the Republic Day, 2024, being held at Maulana Azad Stadium, Jammu.

Meanwhile, his Advisor Rajeev Rai Bhatnagar will preside over and take salute at the main function at Srinagar.

For the main function at Jammu, all the officers and officials of the government and Public Sector Undertakings, stationed at Jammu, have been asked to attend it (function) as a part of their official duty.

“All Heads of Departments and Chief Executives of Public Sector Undertakings (PSUs) shall ensure their own participation and also of the employees subordinate to them in the function,” read a circular issued by General Administration Department (GAD) Commissioner Secretary Sanjeev Verma.

In a related GAD circular, it has been stated that the Beating Retreat ceremony of the Republic Day celebrations will be held on January 29, 2024 at 4.30 pm at Maulana Azad stadium, Jammu.

“All the officers/officials of the government departments stationed at Jammu are directed to attend the Beating Retreat ceremony. It is also impressed upon all the Heads of the Departments and Chief Executives of the Public Sector Undertakings to ensure their own participation and also of the employees subordinate to them in the said function,” GAD Commissioner Secretary ordered.

Through a separate communique, GAD has specified that DDC chairpersons will preside over the main functions and take salute on Republic Day at their respective district headquarters.

However, SDM or Tehsildar or senior most civil officer to be nominated by the Deputy Commissioner concerned will preside over the main functions of Republic Day and take salute at their respective Sub Divisional or Tehsil or Municipal Headquarters.
