LG to preside over Independence Day function at Bakshi Stadium

All officers, officials of J&K directed to attend August 15 functions in Srinagar, Jammu

Srinagar, Aug 2: The Jammu and Kashmir (J&K) Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha will preside over and take salute on the Independence Day-2024 main function at Bakshi Stadium here on August 15.

Also, Advisor to the J&K LG Rajeev Rai Bhatnagar will preside over the function and take salute at Maulana Azad Stadium in Jammu.

The decision has been communicated by the General Administration Department (GAD) through an official communication addressed to the Divisional Commissioner Kashmir and Jammu division respectively.

As per the communication, concerned DDC Chairpersons will preside over the function and take salute at their concerned District Headquarters while SDM, Tehsildar or a senior most officer will be nominated by the Deputy Commissioner concerned who will preside over the function and take salute at their respective sub-division, Tehsil, Headquarter or Municipal Headquarter.

The GAD in a separate circular has directed all the government officers and officials of J&K UT to attend the main function of the Independence Day Celebrations at the Bakshi Stadium Srinagar and Maulana Azad Stadium Jammu "as part of their official duty."

"Independence Day is an important national event celebrated on 15th August every year. All government employees are duty bound to participate in commemorating such an important turning point in the history of our Nation," the circular reads.

The GAD circular reads that any absence shall be only permissible with prior permission of their immediate superior.

"All the Administrative Secretaries, Heads of the   Departments, Managing Directors, Chief Executives of the Public Sector Undertakings are advised to ensure that all officers and officials working under their administrative control, and stationed at Srinagar or Jammu will attend the function at their respective places," the circular reads.
