LG Sinha reviews security, development in Jammu division
Jammu, Nov 17: Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha Sunday emphasised perfect synergy and seamless coordination among security forces to completely annihilate terrorism and its support system to establish peace in J&K.
The Lieutenant Governor was chairing a high-level meeting of senior officials of civil administration and J&K Police here at the Convention Centre to review security and development projects in the Jammu region.
This was LG Sinha’s maiden meeting in Jammu after the Governor House, Ministers and higher administrative setup at the level of Administrative Secretaries and Heads of Departments resumed functioning in the winter capital on November 11.
The meeting was attended by Chief Secretary, Atal Dulloo; DGP, Nalin Prabhat; Principal Secretary, Home, Chandraker Bharti; ADGP (Law and Order) Vijay Kumar; ADGP, Jammu, Anand Jain; ADGP, CID, Nitish Kumar; Principal Secretary to Lieutenant Governor, Mandeep Bhandari; Divisional Commissioner, Jammu, Ramesh Kumar; DIGs, Deputy Commissioners and SSPs of all the districts of Jammu division.
Notably, this meeting, as per sources, was followed by another security review meeting later in the evening, chaired by the Director General of Police.
In the wake of a disconcerting scenario marked by a spurt in terror incidents, synergised operations and a foolproof security grid were imperative to thwart the malevolent design of terrorists and anti-national elements in the region, LG Sinha asserted, according to sources, privy to the meeting.
“To meet this objective, activate all resources, intelligence, both human and technical, to check infiltration, terror incidents and activities of all those miscreants and collaborators, who want to vitiate the atmosphere, disturb the peace by any means – was the crux of his directions on the security aspect,” sources said, adding that the purpose of the meeting was to deliberate on security dynamics and assess preparedness to take on evolving challenges.
Senior officials, as per sources, were asked to go full throttle, with an iron-hand approach in synchronisation with effective and foolproof strategies, to “demolish terrorism and its aiders and abettors.”
Sources maintained that on the development front, LG Sinha singularly focussed on seamless, expedited execution of major infra projects, meeting deadlines and they also included the Tawi riverfront, artificial lake project, National Highway projects and expressway.
Other directions related to facilitating industries, saturation of government schemes aimed at public welfare; effective implementation of Holistic Agriculture Development Programme (HADP); focus on tourism promotion besides connecting youth to self-employment and entrepreneurship schemes.
Earlier, the Lieutenant Governor took feedback about all the districts of the Jammu division, both in terms of security and execution of development works.
Following the meeting, the Office of LG Sinha shared a brief note about it along with pictures on the microblogging site ‘X’: “Chaired a high-level meeting of senior officials of Civil Administration, J&K Police, and DCs, SSPs of Jammu division to review the progress of development projects and security situation in the region."
Later, in the evening, the follow-up meeting, chaired by DGP Nalin Prabhat at Police Headquarters, was attended by ADGP Law and Order, ADGP Jammu; ADGP CID, DIGs and all SSPs of Jammu region to fine-tune strategies with a focus on synergetic approach.
Meanwhile, an official spokesperson said, at the outset of the meeting, the Lieutenant Governor said, “With greater synergy and whole of government approach, our focus should be the complete elimination of terrorism and the entire ecosystem supporting them.” He told the officers that they should not rest until terrorists are wiped out.
“Exemplary action must be taken against those aiding and abetting the terror ecosystem. Wiping out the terrorism from Jammu Kashmir will be your greatest contribution not only to the security aspect to establish peace but also to the development of J&K and its brighter future,” the Lieutenant Governor told the officers.
He also emphasised the need for constant monitoring of project implementation and underlined the importance of speedy infrastructure development.
LG Sinha directed the Deputy Commissioners to take comprehensive measures for the expansion of public outreach programmes and 100 percent saturation of all government schemes.
“Monitoring of saturation of beneficiary-oriented schemes should remain our priority besides implementation of Holistic Agriculture Development Programme and promotion of entrepreneurial schemes like One District One Product that could benefit a large section of the population,” he said.
