LG Sinha appoints Mubarak Gul as speaker pro-tem for J-K assembly

Srinagar, Oct 18: The Lieutenant Governor of Jammu and Kashmir, Manoj Sinha Friday appointed Mubarak Gul as the Speaker Pro-tem for the Union Territory's Legislative Assembly.

The order, issued by the LG, empowers Gul to administer the oath or affirmation to the newly elected Members of the Legislative Assembly for Jammu and Kashmir on October 21, 2024, at 2:00 pm in the Legislative Assembly in Srinagar.

As per the order, Gul will also assume the responsibilities of the Speaker until a permanent Speaker is elected.

The appointment comes as part of the constitutional framework established under Section 24 of the Jammu and Kashmir Reorganization Act, 2019.

Mubarak Gul, senior leader of JKNC, won his Eidgah seat in the recently held assembly elections.
