LG reviews security situation at UHQ meet
Srinagar, June 11: Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha reviewed the security situation in Jammu and Kashmir during a Unified Headquarters (UHQ) meeting held on Wednesday.
The meeting focused on the functioning of the security grid and all security-related aspects in the region.
The meeting was attended by DGP Rashmi Ranjan Swain, senior Army officials including General Officers Commanding (GOCs) of the 15th, 16th, and 9th Corps, Chief Secretary Atal Dulloo, Home Secretary, Principal Secretary to the Governor, heads of Central Armed Police Forces (CAPFs), Additional Director General of Police (ADGP) for Law and Order, ADGP Jammu, IGP Kashmir, intelligence agencies, and civil and police administrators from both Kashmir and Jammu divisions.
The prevailing security scenario, especially in light of the recent Reasi attack and the upcoming Amarnath Yatra, was a major focus of the discussions.
Senior officials from the Army, Police, and other security and intelligence agencies briefed the LG on the current security situation, which they assured was fully under control.
The LG emphasised the need for security agencies to be well-prepared to ensure a peaceful summer in Kashmir, anticipating an increase in tourist arrivals.
The meeting underscored the importance of maintaining sustained pressure on terrorists and discussed measures to prevent further attacks.
Efforts to dismantle the networks aiding terrorists were also reviewed, with ongoing operations by various security agencies aimed at tracking down those involved in recent terror crimes.
The meeting also addressed the summer strategy, with senior Army officials highlighting the increased vigilance along the Line of Control (LoC) and International Border (IB) to prevent infiltration attempts.
The LG reiterated the government’s zero-tolerance policy against terrorism and reviewed plans for area domination, law and order maintenance, and other security measures.
He directed security forces to take all necessary steps to protect civilian lives and praised the J&K administration and security agencies for their efforts in improving the law and order situation.
The Unified Headquarters expressed confidence that the current normalcy, which has paved the way for the revival of tourism, would continue to prevail in J&K.
The LG also stressed the importance of strengthening routine policing to maintain this positive trend.
