LG remits life convict’s remaining term

Jammu, Oct 17: J&K Lieutenant Governor has ordered for remitting the remaining term of imprisonment of a life convict prisoner.

“In exercise of the powers conferred under Section 473 of the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita (BNSS) Act, 2023 read with S.0 2506(E) of 2024 dated June 28, 2024 of the Ministry of Home Affairs, Government of India, the Lieutenant Governor is pleased to order that the remaining term of imprisonment of the convict prisoner Kulwant Singh Manhas, shall be remitted with effect from the date of issuance of this notification, subject to certain conditions,” read a notification issued by J&K Home Department, specifying conditions.
