LG pays heartfelt tributes to fallen army soldier

Jammu, May 23: In a solemn wreath laying ceremony, the Chief of Staff, White Knight Corps Major General Shailendra Singh Friday paid tributes to army soldier Sepoy Gaykar Sandip Pandurang, who made the supreme sacrifice for the nation during the ongoing anti-terror operation in Kishtwar.

“Brave-heart Sepoy Gaykar Sandip Pandurang made the supreme sacrifice in the finest traditions of the Indian Army. His courage and sacrifice will inspire generations of soldiers,” White Knight Corps posted on ‘X’ with a collage of pictures of the fallen soldier and the wreath laying ceremony.

Sepoy Gaykar Sandip Pandurang, a resident of Karandi village of Ahmednagar in Maharashtra serving in 17th Rashtriya Rifles, was deployed in Kishtwar district.

The wreath laying ceremony was held at Military Hospital in Jammu where in Major General along with other Army ranks, senior officers of Police, BSF and civil administration laid wreaths on the mortal remains of fallen soldier wrapped in tricolour. Later his mortal remains were dispatched to his native town for last rites.

Meanwhile, the Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha also paid heartfelt tributes to army soldier Sepoy Gaykar Sandip Pandurang, who was killed on Thursday during ongoing anti-terror operation in Kishtwar.

“Salute to the indomitable courage of braveheart Sep Gaykar Sandip Pandurang, who made the supreme sacrifice for the nation during the anti-terror operation in Kishtwar. The grateful nation will forever be indebted to his valour and unwavering commitment to duty,” the Lieutenant Governor said while paying glowing tributes to the army brave-heart.

“We stand united in solidarity with the family of the martyr in this hour of grief,” LG Sinha said.
