LG, CM congratulate J&K team
Srinagar, Feb 18: Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha and Chief Minister Omar Abdullah on Wednesday congratulated the Jammu and Kashmir cricket team for creating history by qualifying for the Ranji Trophy final for the first time.
In a post on X, the LG praised the teamís landmark achievement, describing it as a proud moment for entire J&K.
ìCongratulations to J&K cricket team on their magnificent victory in Ranji Trophy semi-final! You have etched a new golden chapter in the sporting history of J&K. Entire UT is proud of your extraordinary performance. May you continue this winning momentum and bring glory to J&K,î he said.
Meanwhile, Chief Minister Omar Abdullah also congratulated the players, support staff, and people of J&K, calling it a collective achievement.
ìNobody wins Ranji Trophy alone. This is the success of the whole team and their support staff. I would like to congratulate them from my side and also on behalf of the people of J&K,î he said.
Expressing hope for the future, the CM said the achievement would pave the way for greater representation of J&K players at the national level.
ìI hope the day is not far when players from J&K will be part of the national team and play an important role for the country,î he said.
Meanwhile, Speaker Legislative Assembly, Abdul Rahim Rather, together with other legislative members congratulated the J&K cricket team for scripting history in the prestigious Ranji Trophy 2026 by securing a berth in the final for the first time.
The Speaker, as per an official statement, lauded the players, coaching staff and support team for their dedication, discipline, and fighting spirit throughout the tournament.
He said that this historic achievement had filled the entire region with pride and joy, inspiring the aspiring cricketers across J&K to pursue excellence in sports.
He expressed confidence that the team woulf continue its winning momentum in the final and bring greater glory to the J&K.
The Speaker conveyed his best wishes to the players for the upcoming title match, stating that their remarkable performance had already etched their names in the annals of J&Kís sporting history.
National Conference MLA and party chief spokesperson Tanvir Sadiq also praised the win of the J&K cricket team in the Ranji Trophy semifinal and their historic qualification for the final.
In his address, he urged that the team be felicitated by the government for this outstanding success.
He expressed hope and confidence that the team would continue their stellar performance and triumph in the final as well.
