Jammu, Dec 8: Calling for a knowledge revolution, Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha Sunday said that Artificial Intelligence (AI)-supported classrooms, not AI-led classrooms should be the government’s strategy in the future.

Addressing the 18th annual function of Mahavir International School, at General Zorawar Singh auditorium in the University of Jammu, the LG highlighted the need for a knowledge revolution for leading the country into being a developed nation and to sustain all round growth in different sectors of the economy.

He also spoke on the impact of AI in the modern educational system and its greater role in making teacher-student engagement more productive.

LG Sinha highlighted that AI technology should be considered a supportive tool rather than a complete replacement for teachers.

“AI-supported classrooms, and not AI-led classrooms should be our future strategy,” he told the educational institutions.

“In J&K, capacity building and developing schools as centres of excellence has been one of my objectives and we have created a dynamic and competitive environment of learning to harness the power of the innovative ideas of the students,” the LG said.

He emphasised the role of teachers in realising inherent potential of students and ensuring that core competencies of J&K are synergised for a brighter future.

“Learning should not be centred around tests and assessments. Learning with proper understanding and proper awakening is a must to connect the young generation with the moral values and practical aspects of life,” LG Sinha said.

He laid special emphasis on developing a productive teaching-learning ecosystem where teachers are not restricted to curriculum and are free to share their experiences and wisdom with the students.

“Unless teachers are empowered, students will not be empowered, unless students are empowered, the nation cannot be strong,” the LG said.

About the reforms introduced in the education sector in the past few years, he said that under the guidance of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the country was witnessing an educational revolution.

LG Sinha felicitated the students who excelled in academics and diverse fields and extended his best wishes to them.

He also released the poster of a Bhajan video ‘Garud Vahini Vaishnavi’ by the students of the school.

The LG congratulated the school administration, teachers, and students.

Padma Shri Prof Vishwamurti Shastri; Padma Shri S P Varma; Padma Shri Mohan Singh; Padma Shri Romalo Ram; Executive Director and CEO, AIIMS Jammu, Shakti Kumar Gupta, and Bishan Singh Dardi were honoured for their significant contribution in their respective fields.

The students presented captivating performances highlighting social issues.

A pledge to ‘stop food wastage’ was also administered to the dignitaries, school management, teachers, students, and parents.

Chairman of Mahavir International School, Hira Lal Abrol; Director of the school, Gourav Abrol, and Principal of the school, Kundan Lal Dogra were also present on the occasion.
