LG calls for education reforms

Srinagar, Oct 27: Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha on Sunday called for bridging gaps between the education sector and globalised economy needs.

Addressing the Medhavi Chhatra Samman Samaroh organised by Amar Ujala Group at Sher-e-Kashmir University of Agricultural Sciences and Technology, Kashmir (SKUAST-K), the LG said, “I strongly believe the goal of education is not limited to number and ranking. It is also about creating better human beings and future leaders, who will bridge the gaps between the education sector and the needs of the globalised economy.”

He felicitated the meritorious students of classes 10th and 12th from the J&K Board of School Education and extended his best wishes for a bright future to all students.

The LG also congratulated the female students for outshining the males in the award tally.

He called upon the youngsters to take advantage of today’s dynamic, competitive environment and knowledge platforms in setting the new goal in life.

“As a youth of this great country, they should contribute towards realising the vision of Viksit Bharat 2047,” the LG said.

He emphasised the role of the School Education Department, educational institutions, and teaching community in imparting life skills among the students and promoting learning beyond the classroom.

“Our focus should also be on lifelong learning skills, creativity, curiosity, problem-solving and critical thinking. This will help the talented youth to develop valuable and special skills, which will enable them to effectively tackle future challenges,” the LG said.

Vice Chancellor, SKUAST-K, Prof Nazir Ahmad Ganai; Vice Chancellor, Central University of Kashmir, Prof A Ravinder Nath; Principal Secretary, School Education Department, Suresh Kumar Gupta and Commissioner Secretary GAD, Sanjeev Verma were also present on the occasion.
