LG asks SBI to support economic growth through tailored credit
Jammu, Nov 23: Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha, while recognising its initiatives and significance in bolstering financial inclusion through its Lead Bank Scheme, has asked the State Bank of India (SBI) to support economic growth through tailored credit for priority sectors, micro and small enterprises, infrastructure, and tourism in J&K.
This exhortation was made when the SBI Deputy General Manager (DGM) Jammu Jayant Mani met the Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha at Raj Bhawan, Jammu on Sunday.
LG Sinha, during the meeting, acknowledged SBI’s contributions and emphasised the importance of the Lead Bank Scheme in enhancing financial inclusion and banking outreach. Earlier, the DGM reaffirmed the SBI’s commitment to support the socio-economic progress of Jammu and Kashmir. Mani, during the meeting, briefed the Lieutenant Governor on SBI’s initiatives under the Lead Bank Scheme, highlighting its role in district credit planning, strengthening credit flow, and driving government schemes. SBI serves as the Lead Bank in eight districts of the Jammu region. Separately, in a humanitarian gesture, SBI employees, Chandigarh Circle, have donated Rs 1.55 Cr to the Chief Minister's Relief Fund to support flood victims in Jammu and Kashmir.
