LeT associate held in Baramulla, grenade recovered: Police

Srinagar, Feb 27: Police and security forces have arrested a terrorist associate linked with proscribed terror outfit LeT and recovered a hand grenade from his possession in north Kashmir's Baramulla district, officials said today.

"On a specific input regarding movement of terrorists in Pattan area, a joint Naka was established at Chinar Crossing Pattan by Baramulla Police, SSB (2nd Bn) & Army (29 RR)," said an official, in a statement.

"During checking, a suspicious person was intercepted who on seeing police party tried to flee from the spot but was apprehended tactfully by the joint parties of Police and security forces. He has been identified as Mehraj ud Din Bhat son of Manzoor Ahmad Bhat resident of Mundyari Pattan."

During his search, one live hand grenade was recovered from his possession.

In this regard, a case under relevant sections of law has been registered at PS Pattan and investigation has been taken up.
