The extension follows a written request submitted on November 27 by the Co-Chairman of the Apex Body Leh, who stated that “many people” still wish to record their statements and present evidence before the panel.

According to an official order, Justice (Retd.) Dr B.S. Chauhan, who heads the Commission, considered the request and granted the revised deadline, allowing more time for those yet to depose. The inquiry panel has been collecting testimonies and documents to establish the sequence of events and fix responsibility for the September violence.

On September 24, four residents were killed and several others injured, including police personnel, during clashes in Leh. Following the incident, the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) ordered a judicial inquiry, fulfilling a long-standing demand from the local population for justice and transparency.

Officials said further action will be taken once the Commission completes its probe and submits its final report.
