Legal literacy programme conducted

Srinagar, July 13: In an effort to spread legal awareness and address local issues, final-year law students from Vitasta Law College, including social activist Jehanzeb Allaqaband, visited the rural areas of Dhara Harwan and Faqir Gujri. This visit was part of a legal literacy programme organised by the college.

The students, including Jehanzeb Allaqaband, Fakhar Ul Zaman, Raisa Riyaz, Tehzeeb Mushtaq, Madina Azad, and Ashiyana Bilal, conducted a door-to-door campaign to educate the residents about various government schemes and collect feedback on the issues they face. The initiative aimed to bridge the gap between the government policies and the rural populace ensured that the benefits of these schemes reach the grassroots level.

During their interaction, the locals of Dhara Harwan highlighted the pressing issues of inadequate hospital facilities and the absence of ambulances. Despite these challenges, the residents acknowledged the benefits received through schemes like the Golden Card, Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana, and ABHA (Ayushman Bharat Health Account) Card.

Jehanzeb Allaqaband, along with his classmates, assured the community members that their concerns would be taken seriously. They pledged to reach out to the relevant authorities and work towards resolving these issues, ensuring better healthcare facilities for the area.

This initiative by Vitasta Law College is a significant step towards empowering the rural population with legal knowledge and addressing their grievances. The commitment of these young law students reflects their dedication to social justice and community service.
