Lecture on women’s health held at GC CRPF Srinagar

Srinagar, Apr 15: A lecture on women’s health was on Tuesday organised under the aegis of the RCWA, Group Centre, CRPF, Srinagar, aiming to spread awareness on key health issues concerning women personnel and their families.

A statement of CRPF issued here said that the session featured expert talks by rheumatologist Dr Lubna Khurshid, gynaecologist Dr Naseefa from Paras Health Hospital, Srinagar.

The programme witnessed active participation of around 65 women, including female personnel and residents from the campus.

President RCWA GC Srinagar, Sangeeta Kumar welcomed the guest doctors with floral bouquets and lauded their contribution to women’s health and awareness.

Dr Lubna delivered a detailed lecture on arthritis, with a special focus on Rheumatoid Arthritis, and also provided free consultations to attendees. She highlighted the importance of early diagnosis and management of joint-related ailments among women.

Dr Naseefa conducted an informative session on cervical cancer, laying emphasis on the use of HPV vaccines and preventive measures.

She underlined the importance of early detection through Pap smears, HPV vaccination, and adoption of safe practices to reduce the risk of cervical cancer, which continues to be one of the leading causes of death among women in developing countries.

As part of the initiative, around 30 women availed free consultations related to cervical cancer prevention.

Towards the end of the event, Sangeeta Kumar presented mementos to the guest doctors as a token of appreciation for their valuable time and insights.

The lecture concluded with a vote of thanks delivered by Dr Annu Arya, Senior Medical Officer, GC CRPF Srinagar.

The programme was aimed at empowering women with crucial health information and encouraging proactive healthcare practices within the force and their families.
