In the advisory dated January 14, the Embassy said the directive follows an earlier advisory issued by the Government of India on January 5, 2025. Indian citizens in Iran — including students, pilgrims, businesspersons and tourists — have been advised to depart using available means of transport, including commercial flights.

The Embassy also reiterated that Indian citizens and Persons of Indian Origin (PIOs) should exercise heightened caution, avoid areas witnessing protests or demonstrations, remain in regular contact with the Indian mission, and closely monitor local media for updates, reported news agency Kashmir Dot Com.

Indian nationals have been asked to keep their travel and immigration documents, including passports and identity cards, readily accessible at all times. The Embassy said assistance would be provided to those who require help.

To facilitate emergency support, the Indian mission has shared multiple helpline numbers and an official email address for immediate contact. Nationals who have not yet registered with the Embassy have been requested to do so through the Ministry of External Affairs’ online registration portal. In cases where internet services are disrupted within Iran, families of Indian nationals in India have been advised to complete the registration on their behalf.
