Law Students of CUK visit Police Station Kheerbawani
Srinagar, Nov 13: As part of an academic exposure initiative, around 60 law students from the Central University of Kashmir (CUK) visited Police Station Kheerbawani. The visit was aimed at providing students with firsthand insight into the functioning, structure, and practical aspects of policing and criminal justice administration, said a press release.
During the visit, the students had an interactive session with SSP Ganderbal Khalil Ahmad Poswal, who briefed them about the role, responsibilities, and professional conduct of the police in maintaining law and order, preventing crime, and ensuring justice. He also elaborated on various legal procedures followed during investigation and trial, highlighting the importance of coordination between police, prosecution, and the judiciary,it said
The students were familiarised with the working structure of the Police Station, including maintenance of important records such as Daily diary, FIR register, case diaries, property registers, and other documentation essential for transparency and accountability in police functioning. They were also apprised about procedures related to arrests, investigation, filing of charge sheets, convictions, acquittals, and the role of the Forensic Science Laboratory (FSL) in evidence-based investigation.
