Ramban, Nov 9: The last rites of two slain Village Defense Guards (VDGs), who were killed by the terrorists on Thursday were performed near their respective villages at Kuntwara Kishtwar on Saturday.

Locals of the area have demanded government jobs for each of two families.

Reportedly the two unarmed VDGs Nazir Ahmed and Kuldeep Kumar had gone to graze cattle in the dense forest of Kuntwara where both were abducted and killed by the terrorists on Thursday. The bodies of the duo were traced and retrieved after several hours of search operation from a nearby stream in Kuntwara on Friday afternoon.

The bodies of the both slain VDGs were handed over to respective families in Ohli village by the Police on late Friday evening. Officials said postmortem and other medical formalities were conducted in the respective places by the team of doctors in presence of security forces on Saturday morning

Meanwhile locals of the area have demanded a massive search operation to eliminate the terrorists hiding in dense forests in the area. The locals also demanded providing of relief and government jobs for each of two victim families.

Officials said on Friday DGP, Nalin Prabhat and GOC white night crops and other officers also visited the area, held a meeting with security forces and reviewed the security situation of Kishtwar district .

Former president, BJP, Jammu and Kashmir, Ravinder Raina, MLA Kishtwar, Shagun Parihar visited the Ohli village to meet the families, condole the death and paid homage to both the VDGs.

Deputy Inspector General,(DIG), Doda , Kishtwar, Ramban range Shridhar Patil, SSP Kishtwar , Abdul Qayoom visited Ohili village paid homage to slain VDGs and participated in their last rites.

Earlier on Friday a complete shutdown was observed in Kishtwar and protest demonstrations were held against Pakistan and terriorist ogganisation Kashmir Tigers in several places in Kishtwar district against killings of two Village Defense Guards (VDGs) in remote Kuntwara forests.
