Landslides, shooting stones block Sgr-Jmu NH

Ramban, Apr 15: Following incessant rains, the Srinagar-Jammu National Highway, the only surface link connecting Kashmir with the rest of the country, was blocked due to fresh landslides and shooting stones at the Kishtwari-Pathar area between Ramsu and Banihal on Monday evening.

Officials said, “Vehicular traffic on both sides of the highway was halted around 5 pm after a fresh landslide and shooting stones blocked the road at Kishtwari-Pathar, a place between Ramsu and Banihal sector of the highway in Ramban district Monday afternoon.”

They said due to continuous rain, road restoration work was not started.

“Road restoration work will be started only after the rain stops,” they said.

Due to the blockade of the road at Kishtwari-Pathar, hundreds of vehicles were stopped at several places between Srinagar and Jammu amid heavy rains.
