Landslides, rain disrupt traffic on Kotranka-Khawas, Bagla Nadyala roads

Rajouri, Mar 3: Vehicular traffic on the main road connecting Kotranka subdivision with Khawas tehsil was suspended due to a landslide that hit this road at LD Gali in Rajouri district on Sunday.

The road connecting Bagla Nadyala and Rishwa villages also remained closed due to sliding and slippery conditions during the day, however, it was restored for vehicular movement in the evening.

Locals said, “This morning, a landslide hit LD Gali and big boulders fell on the road, blocking it for movement of vehicles.”

Due to it, the traffic on this road was suspended from both sides, affecting normal life badly, they said.

“The road restoration work has been taken up by the department but it has not been completed yet,” the locals added.

Similarly, the road connecting Bagla Nadyala, Rishwa villages of Rajouri with the Jammu-Rajouri-Poonch National Highway also got closed for movement of vehicles on Sunday afternoon, after slippery conditions and landslides.

Dozens of vehicles remained stranded on both sides of the road in the slide-hit area.

“The road was restored for movement of vehicles late Sunday evening,” officials said.
