Landslide halts traffic on Rajouri–Thanamandi–Surankote road

Rajouri, Aug 7: A fresh landslide triggered in the Danar area of Surankote on Thursday morning brought vehicular traffic to a standstill on the busy Rajouri–Thanamandi–Surankote road, stranding hundreds of commuters and disrupting connectivity to the vital Mughal Road. Swift clearance efforts by authorities helped restore traffic after a nearly hour-long disruption.

The sudden landslide led to a complete halt in traffic, with hundreds of vehicles stranded on both sides of the blocked stretch.

Commuters, including locals and travellers using the route as a transit corridor towards Kashmir, were left stranded for several hours.

Authorities immediately swung into action, with men and machinery deployed to clear the debris.

Officials said that restoration work was taken up swiftly, and traffic was resumed after an hour of disruption.
