Landslide brings traffic to standstill on Jammu-Rajouri-Poonch NH

Poonch, March 30: The movement of vehicles on the busy Jammu-Rajouri-Poonch National Highway remained suspended for over two hours after a landslide hit the stretch near Dundak in Poonch district of Pir Panjal region on Saturday afternoon.

Locals as well as commuters said that an incident of landslide occurred at Dundak in Poonch where work for highway upgradation was going on.

They said that a heavy volume of sand, clay, and rocks fell on the road and the area beneath blocking it for the movement of vehicles which badly affected the lives of people.

People said that the highway remained blocked for hours before it was restored for traffic after clearing the slide debris.

Deputy SP Traffic, Rajouri-Poonch Range, Muhammad Nawaz told Greater Kashmir that a heavy landslide occurred on the highway, affecting the movement of vehicles.

He said that the highway was restored after almost two hours.
