Land sinking forces closure of several schools in Poonch
Poonch, Sep 9: Authorities in Poonch district on Tuesday ordered the closure of several schools in Kalaban village after land sinking reports and worsening weather conditions raised safety concerns for students and residents.
According to an official order issued by the Chief Education Officer of Poonch, the alarming situation poses a “serious threat to the lives and safety” of the local population, particularly school-going children.
The schools were ordered to remain closed till further orders, which included Government Primary School Takia, Government Middle School Kalaban, Government Primary School Mohalla Kashmirian and Government Primary School Khaitan with all education zones of Mendhar.
Officials said the decision was taken as a precautionary measure to prevent any untoward incident and that normal functioning of the institutions would resume once conditions improve.
